Are your symptoms related to unresolved trauma or an underlying stress that never goes away? I offer an approach to return your mind and body to calmness and better functioning.
You may be carrying the effects of trauma without realising it. Trauma does not only come from major events. It can develop through long-term stress, emotional neglect, relationship breakdown, loss, or feeling unsafe or unsupported at important times in life.
Trauma is not defined by what happened, but by how your nervous system adapted in order to cope. These adaptations often continue long after the original threat has passed, shaping how you feel, react, and relate to yourself and others.
Trauma-informed hypno-psychotherapy offers a calm, respectful way of working with these patterns, helping your system to settle, emotions to process safely, and a greater sense of ease and self-trust to return.
How trauma can affect you
Trauma often shows up in subtle ways, including:
Ongoing anxiety or low mood
Emotional numbness or disconnection
Feeling easily overwhelmed or on edge
Difficulty relaxing or sleeping
Strong self-criticism or shame
Relationship difficulties or fear of closeness
Using food, alcohol, work, or distraction to cope
These responses are not flaws. They are protective strategies that once helped you survive. Therapy is about helping your nervous system recognise that it is now safe to let go.
What is trauma-informed hypno-psychotherapy?
Trauma-informed hypno-psychotherapy combines psychotherapy with a gentle, clinically grounded form of hypnosis. It is not about losing control, being made to do anything, or reliving painful memories.
Hypnosis is used to create focus, safety, and emotional access in a way that supports healing rather than overwhelm.
In this approach:
You remain aware and in control throughout
We do not force regression or re-experience trauma
The work is paced carefully and collaboratively
The body and emotions are listened to, not overridden
Safety and stabilisation always come first
This makes the work particularly suitable for people who feel stuck, exhausted by “coping”, or who have found that talking alone has not reached the deeper emotional layers.
Emotion Focused Hypnotherapy for trauma
I work using trauma-informed Emotion Focused Hypnotherapy, an advanced, evidence-based approach that integrates modern trauma psychology, emotion-focused therapy, nervous system regulation, and safe clinical hypnosis.
Rather than analysing the past in detail (though we still talk about the past and sometimes work with it), we mainly work with emotional and somatic processes as they arise in the present. Emotions are treated as meaningful signals rather than problems to get rid of.
Hypnosis allows us to slow things down and create a sense of inner safety, making it possible for emotional patterns to soften and reorganise without re-traumatisation.
What sessions are like and how long does it take
Sessions are calm, grounded, and collaborative. We begin by building safety and emotional stability, often including simple regulation tools you can use between sessions.
As therapy progresses, we may work with emotional blocks, protective responses, or deeply held beliefs, always at a pace that feels manageable. Many clients notice increased calm, clarity, and self-compassion early in the process.
Some people come for short-term support, others choose deeper ongoing work. We regularly review progress together.
Training and experience
I am a qualified clinical hypno-psycho-therapist in practice since 1997 and have completed many diplomas in hypnotherapy, psychological therapies, coaching and an advanced diploma in trauma-informed Emotion Focused Hypnotherapy. This training emphasises ethical, safety-first practice and working with trauma without re-activating it.
My approach is relational, integrative, and respectful of each person’s nervous system and life experience.
Is this right for you?
This approach may suit you if you:
Feel affected by past experiences but do not want to relive them
Want a gentle, depth-oriented form of trauma therapy
Have tried other approaches and still feel stuck
Value safety, pacing, and collaboration
If you are unsure, an initial conversation can help clarify whether this work is a good fit.
