Terms and Conditions of Transformational Coaching
Coaching Agreement and Terms and Conditions for Transformational Coaching
- Introduction
This document sets out the basis on which coaching is offered and undertaken. It is intended to provide clarity about the nature of the work, what can be expected from the coaching relationship, and the practical arrangements that support it.
By booking and attending sessions, the Client confirms that they have read and agree to the terms outlined below.
- Parties to the Agreement
This Agreement is made between:
Steven Lane, trading as A Change of Mind
The Retreat, Clonad, Killeigh,
Tullamore, Co. Offaly,
R35 C6R3, Ireland
Business Registration Number: 301485
and
The Client
For the purposes of this Agreement, “the Coach” refers to Steven Lane trading as A Change of Mind.
Coaching services are delivered personally by Steven Lane.
- Nature of the Work
The coaching offered is transformational in nature, and may include psychological, developmental, relational, and transpersonal or spiritual dimensions of experience.
This may involve exploration of identity, patterns of behaviour, emotional responses, meaning, purpose, and experiences sometimes described as spiritual or awakening-related.
As part of this process, elements of emotional or psychological resolution may arise. This can include working with patterns, beliefs, or emotional dynamics that are no longer serving the Client.
At times, the work may involve discussion or exploration of experiences sometimes described as spiritual awakening or post-awakening integration. These are approached within a coaching framework focused on integration into everyday life.
This work is undertaken within a coaching framework oriented towards awareness, integration, and effective functioning in life, rather than the diagnosis or treatment of specific psychological or medical conditions.
- What the Client Can Expect
The Client can expect a space that is attentive, confidential, and oriented towards genuine change.
The work may involve reflection, exploration of patterns, and, where appropriate, direct challenge in service of the Client’s development.
Sessions are not scripted and will respond to what is most relevant in the moment. The emphasis is on depth, clarity, and integration rather than quick fixes.
- What Is Expected of the Client
The Client agrees to engage with the process in an open and responsible way.
This includes taking ownership of decisions, actions, and outcomes arising from the coaching.
Coaching is most effective when the Client is willing to reflect honestly and engage with what emerges, including at times material that may feel uncomfortable.
- Coaching and Therapeutic Boundaries
Coaching is not psychotherapy, counselling, or medical treatment.
While the work may involve emotional or psychological material, it is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any mental health condition.
Clients experiencing significant psychological distress or mental health difficulties are encouraged to seek appropriate clinical support.
Where appropriate, coaching may draw on elements of psychological understanding or techniques, but these are applied within a coaching context rather than a clinical or therapeutic one.
- Sessions and Practical Arrangements
Sessions are typically held either in person or online.
Online sessions are conducted via Zoom or a similar platform. While reasonable steps are taken to ensure confidentiality, the Client understands that online communication carries inherent risks outside the control of the Coach. By engaging in online sessions, the Client accepts these conditions.
Session frequency and duration are agreed between the Coach and the Client.
- Fees and Payment
Fees are agreed in advance of the session or programme.
Payment is required prior to or at the time of the session unless otherwise agreed.
- Cancellation and Rescheduling
A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.
Sessions cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a fee of 50% of the session cost.
Missed sessions without notice are charged at the full session rate.
In exceptional circumstances, this may be waived at the discretion of the Coach.
- Confidentiality
All information shared within coaching sessions is treated as confidential.
Exceptions may arise where there is a legal obligation to disclose information, or where there is a risk of serious harm to the Client or others.
- Responsibility and Outcomes
Coaching is a collaborative process aimed at supporting change and development.
However, no specific outcomes or results can be guaranteed.
The Client remains responsible for their own decisions, actions, and outcomes arising from the coaching process.
- Professional Background
Steven Lane is a qualified coach and therapist and is a member of relevant professional bodies, including the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).
Coaching is provided within the scope of the Coach’s training and experience.
Further details of qualifications and professional background are available on request or via the website.
- Governing Law and Jurisdiction
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland, regardless of the location of the Client.
Any disputes arising out of or in connection with this Agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland.
- Acceptance of Terms
By booking and attending a session, the Client confirms that they have read, understood, and agree to this Coaching Agreement and Terms and Conditions.
